Rhino Doors recruiting welders for its North West facility

The UK’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance engineered doors, Rhino provides a comprehensive range of pre-engineered and bespoke, primary and multi-performance rated doors for the protection of our national assets. 

At our special projects and product development facility in Bamber Bridge, near Preston in Lancashire, we combine blast, structural and mechanical design expertise in the production of bespoke, high-integrity steel doors and blast walls. 

We are about to begin manufacturing at this North West facility and we are seeking Platers / MIG Welders, preferably with a background in construction and manufacturing, who can work with minimum supervision as part of the team, welding to approved drawings. 

We are also seeking a Labourer with some fitting experience to support the fabrication team. The ability to drive a forklift would be an advantage.

Main responsibilities as a Plater / Welder will involve:

  • Welding different materials (carbon and stainless steel)
  • Fabricating and assembling products from technical drawings using MIG welding and various methods of assembly 
  • Welding to a high standard 
  • Self-verification on all welds 
  • Adhering to all SHE related standards associated with welding 

Skills and qualifications: 

  • Current knowledge and experience in welding and use of associated equipment 
  • Capable of all positional welding 
  • Trade papers, e.g., formal apprenticeship and the ability to provide papers 
  • Clear understanding of SHE risks awareness 
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes 
  • Experience of welding steel at a thickness of 3mm and above, but generally in the 3-6mm range  

These roles are initially for a 3-4 month period, with the possibility of being extended or becoming permanent roles.
