Cartoon unlocks the history of Rhino Doors

March 18 2022

We’ve been producing high-performance engineered doors for the protection of people and assets within the defence, transport and critical infrastructure sectors since 1983 – but where did it all begin? A cartoon recently discovered after our move from Burscough to Preston, has seen the history of Rhino Doors uncovered…

In the early 1990s, the brand Rhino Doors was created to provide an identity to the Industrial Doors Division arm of European Profiles Limited.

Soon after, Rhino Doors became a limited company and, as part of the market launch for the business, PR company Plum Design produced the original company logo, alongside advertising, promotional material, and this cartoon feature. The Rhino logo that you see today was designed by Kenyons in 2016.

Artist, Roger Bowles, created the finished cartoon piece which highlights how good life could be if you installed a Rhino door and the chaos that could be caused if you didn’t.

Since this cartoon was produced, we’ve gone from strength to strength, with significant growth over the last 12 months and the creation of our parent company, Rhino Engineering Group.

Two new subsidiaries have also been set up beneath the Rhino Engineering Group umbrella: Rhino Site Systems, which provides after-sales and installation services, and Rhino HySafe, which produces innovative ultra-fast explosion relief products for the global hydrogen market.

“It’s great to look back and remind ourselves of where it all started and how much the company has achieved in almost 40 years of business,” said Stuart Lawrence, Group Managing Director of Rhino Engineering Group.

“The cartoon highlights the strength and durability of our products, and reinforces our unique offering, made possible by the talent of our engineers.”
